An Irish pub posted a brilliant response to an online review that complained about a smell of urine coming from the bathroom.

Bishopstown Bar in Cork is one of the most popular pubs in town and boasts a healthy aggregate score of 4.2 stars out of five on Google reviews.

However, one diner was not happy with their experience in the pub and posted the following review on Google: “There’s a smell of urine out of the toilets, put me right off.”

Now, while we expect the overall atmosphere and smell of a pub to be pleasant, most of us accept that the toilets of a busy establishment are not going to be the most desirable place to be.

The manager at Bishopstown Bar was happy to respond to the review with a sense of humour and posted: “Thanks for your feedback, but for health and safety reasons we would advise customers not to eat or drink in the toilets in future.”

The humorous response did not go unnoticed by the reviewer, who updated their original post to add the comment: “Additionally, I’ve just discovered this may be due to the owner having a bad attitude and not taking kindly to criticism.”

The manager may have decided to allow his unhappy customer have the final word in this dispute, as there is no sign of him adding any more comments to the review.

Online reviews can be hugely important to pubs and restaurants with regards to attracting new customers.
