Back in 2020, just before the coronavirus pandemic hit, comedy star Jack Black had a bit of time to spare in Dublin and made sure he stopped by one of the city’s watering holes for a pint of the black stuff.
The School of Rock star was in Ireland for a show at Dublin’s 3 Arena with his ever-popular band Tenacious D.
Black posted a photo of himself tucking into a pint of Guinness. He clearly hadn’t held back as he had foam from the head of his drink all over his moustache.
The actor and musician added the caption: “Thanks Dublin…you da best!”
His Instagram followers were delighted and many of them replied to thank him and band mate Kyle Gass for putting on a great show.
One fan said: “I loved the show jack and I’m glad I was in the 5% of people who were dancing. My voice is done.”
Another added: “Was absolutely amazing show thanks Jack.”
Some were more interested in his choice of drink, with one fan posting: “Guinness in Ireland…. the best.”
Another said: “Try freshly poured Guinness and a shot of Tia Maria you will not regret it Jack.”
Celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak asked: “Do you have some protein smoothie shake on your beard?”
Black joins a long list of international stars who have enjoyed a Guinness in an Irish pub during their visit including Emily Blunt, Mad Men star Christina Hendricks, John C Reilly and even former US President Barack Obama.
Pop princess Kylie Minogue treated her Irish fans to a free Guinness to make up for having to cancel two shows with a throat infection.
Black’s Anchorman co-stars Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd are also no stranger to the joys of the Irish pub.
