Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’ has been named as the most popular song of the past decade.
That is according to music giant Spotify, who report the song has been the most streamed by users of its platform since 2010.
Sheeran is one of the big winners of the decade, and actually had two entries in the top 5 most streamed songs from 2010-19 with his 2014 hit Thinking Out Loud placing fifth on the list.
Sheeran has always spoken proudly about his Irish roots and actually had the song Thinking Out Loud translated into the Irish language for a special tribute performance to his family heritage.
He was the second most streamed artist of the decade behind Canadian rapper Drake.
The other big winners of the decade were Ariana Grande who was the most-streamed female artist of the past 10 years, and the third overall.
New York singer/rapper Post Malone also made it into some of the top five lists of the decade after rising in prominence in recent years. He, and Californian teen Billie Eilish, were the big stars of 2019, with both dominating the top five lists across the various categories.
