The Derry Girls cast took on the daunting challenge of trying to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith in a special Christmas special of the Great British Bake Off.
Derry Girls and the Great British Bake Off have been two of Channel 4’s most successful programs of recent times so the obvious thing to do was combine the two.
Actors Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Erin), Nicola Coughlan (Clare), Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (Michelle), Dylan Llewellyn (James) and Siobhán McSweeney (Sister Michael) all entered the famous Bake Off tent to test their skills.
Hold on, where was Louisa Harland (Orla)? Must be practicing her step aerobics right?
Without giving too much away, the actors have teased fans with a few social media posts to give some clues as to how well they got on.

McSweeney posted an image of her during the baking process as she looks down into her mixture in the blender with concern.
She said: “The entire nation will witness me having a breakdown.”
The Bake Off tent has seen plenty of meltdowns from contestants over the years, as their cakes fail to rise, or their icing slide off the hot cake.
The watchful eyes of judges Hollywood and Leith add to the pressure cooker environment.
Presenters and comedians Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig wander from table to table to investigate the contestant’s progress, and add a little comic relief.
However, they more often get in the way of the panicking bakers, and add to their stress.
When the special episode was first announced, Coughlan admitted she now has “PTSD when I think about fondant icing”.

It all promises to be a good watch, although fans should not expect too much from the Derry Girls cast according to the judges who said they are definitely “better at comedy than baking”.
The episode will be broadcast by Channel 4 on New Year’s Day at 7.40pm and will also be made available on demand.
