Index finds sharp rise in construction activity and new orders

Construction activity and new orders rose sharply last month, despite signs of a slowdown in growth, the latest figures show. There was also a boost in the number of jobs being created in the sector, according to the U lster Bank Construction Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) – a seasonally adjusted survey which tracks changes.

Irish football fans have paid tribute to the Northern Ireland supporter who fell to his death in Nice by applauding and singing in his memory. Darren Rodgers, from Ballymena in Co Antrim, fell from a promenade on the French Riviera in the early hours of Monday.

Man charged after cocaine seized in South Dublin

Gardai have seized cocaine with a street value of about 210,000 euro in South Dublin. An estimated three kilograms of the drug were found when o fficers from the Drugs and Organi sed Crime Bureau stopped and searched a van during an intelligence led operation in Clondalkin on Saturday.

Irish fans praised ahead of Euro 2016 opener

A top policeman has praised the good behaviour of Irish fans at Euro 2016 but said his force will not be taking their eye off the ball. Garda Superintendent Gerry Delmar arrived in France on Monday and is leading a team of eight gardai at the football tournament.
