When an American man married an Irish lady in Ireland in 2017, the happy couple made sure they were prepared for everything.
That included making sure that the American guests who made the long journey would be able to understand everything that was being said.
Of course, with English being the common language between the two countries, the New Yorkers would be able to get the gist of most of what was being said.
However, there are a number of Irish-isms that would probably leave most Americans totally baffled.
Tipperary bride Patricia and her New Yorker husband Kyle were on the ball and came up with a handy list of common Irish phrases and translated them into ‘American English’.
It included some great translations such as ‘Jaysus that speech was gas, he was absolutely brilliant. What a legend!’ – which becomes ‘Omg that speech was sweet, he crushed it. So Epic!!’.
