It was a nailbiter for Sean and Conor Price on the X Factor this weekend as the Irish duo fought for a place in the Judge’s Houses stage in the dreaded Six Chair Challenge.
The talented brothers are Ireland’s big hope in the latest series of the British reality show.
They impressed the judges with their fantastic audition singing All Along the Watchtower, but have since failed to hit the same heights again. They just scraped through the last knockout round with their rendition of Ed Sheeran’s Sing.
Next up was the Six Chair Challenge audition, a cruel process which involves six chairs representing the six available spots in the next round of the competition.
Acts are given the chairs, then swapped and replaced and swapped again according to the whim of the judges, who are often influenced by the audience.
Sean and Conor began their performance with their own song ‘Something In the Way’.
However, it did not look good when Simon Cowell stopped them midway through the performance.
Cowell is in charge of the groups on this year’s show, and it was his decision which acts he put through to the next stage.
He warned Sean and Conor that their performance so far was not going to be enough to beat the competition and encouraged them to try a different song.
The lads then switched to another of their own original songs, ‘Time’. You can take a look at the audition below.
Thankfully, Simon Cowell did decide to give the boys a space in the next round. They will now travel to Cowell’s house to audition again, when the six remaining groups will be cut to just three for the live shows.
