Movie fans and critics are getting excited over Saoirse Ronan’s performance in the remake of Little Women with many tipping the young Irish star for an Oscar.
The film is the eighth adaptation of the 151-year-old novel written by Louisa May Alcott.
Dublin actress Ronan plays Jo March, the second eldest of the sisters in the family.
Her performance has earned her rave reviews and many fans are suggesting she could finally get her hands on the first Academy Award of her career.
Ronan has previously been nominated for an Oscar for her roles in Atonement (2008), Brooklyn (2016) and Lady Bird (2018).
Each time she has been beaten to the award, albeit by some outstandingly talented actresses – Tilda Swinton, Brie Larson and Frances McDormand.
In Little Women, Ronan is working alongside Hollywood legend Meryl Streep, and teaming up once again with Greta Gerwig who also directed her in Lady Bird.

Fans and critics believe this movie could be the one that lands Ronan a much-coveted Oscar.
Here are some of the tweets being posted about her performance.
So I've seen Little Women twice now and it's one of my very favorite movies of the year. Greta Gerwig delivers a both passionately faithful and gorgeously original take. Saoirse is a fierce Jo, Chalamet/Dern/Streep esp are great in support, and Florence Pugh is astonishing.
