Irish funnyman Brendan O’Carroll has revealed he came incredibly close to getting his dream guest on to his All Round Mrs Brown’s chat show – Michelle Obama.
The Dublin star explained the former First Lady was in the UK promoting her book last year and his team did all they could to have her appear on the show.
O’Carroll said: “We came close to getting our dream guest last year when Michelle was down to do a book tour in the UK.
“She even had her mother over, which would have been ideal because we ask guests to bring their mother.
“We couldn’t believe our luck. Then her schedule got finalised and it turned out her visit was three weeks out from our filming dates.”
So it was a case of so close but yet so far on that occasion, but O’Carroll is definitely open to the possibility should the opportunity ever arise again.
The failure to land Michelle Obama did not do anything to damage the reputation and popularity of All Round Mrs Brown’s with the viewers.
And the production team still managed to get A-list stars Pamela Anderson and Sting to be guests on the show.
O’Carroll and his wife Jenny Gibney, who also hosts the show, will begin filming for the third series early next year, and the star has revealed which music act he hopes will come on.
He said: “I’d love to get The Script on because they’re my favourite band.
“Not just for a chat. I’d love to play with them too.”
