Swiss police have thrown down the gauntlet and issued a dance challenge to their Irish counterparts.
The challenge came in the form of a video of some members of the Swiss Federal Police who put on a dance routine to Jerusalema by Master KG.
The Swiss police tweeted their video, along with a challenge to the Irish garda, saying: “We are looking forward to the performance of the @gardainfo!”
They weren’t low on confidence either. They went on to claim that their dance could not be topped in precision, discipline, or perfectionism.
To be fair, the Swiss did put on a good routine and they may be right that it will take some effort for the Irish counterparts to better them.
The dance featured police dressed in full uniform, including some in riot gear, and even one with a police dog. The routine took place in various locations, including offices, corridors, car parks, on the street and on the roof of a building.
Kiss FM’s Frankie Beats also tweeted the video with the caption: “Police officers in Switzerland
@fedpolCH decided to do something special for its people in these dark times. Just amazing!
“@gardainfo Will you accept the challenge if enough people retweet this?”
His tweet was followed up with more dances from police in France and South Africa.
Frankie Beats said that he had head rumours that the Irish garda were preparing their routine and had brought in the big guns including Tralee Garda, who has already had dance routines go viral, and garda and GAA star Aidan O’Mahony who won Dancing With The Stars in 2017.
The Garda have indeed accepted the challenge and said that they are preparing their routine.
The Garda info twitter account posted: “We are very happy to accept. We better get practicing on our Riverdance routines.”
The following week some members of the Garda were spotted on a rooftop practicing their routine.
Take a look at the video below.
