Here is the news that will be welcomed by Irish people all over the world – drinking a daily cup of tea could help you live longer.
Medical Journal Advances in Nutrition published a report that found people who consume 2-3 cup of green or black tea every day lowered their risk of heart disease by between 8 and 12%, in comparison to non-tea drinkers.
Broadly speaking, that means for each cup of tea drank, your risk is reduced by 4%.
The study also found that the benefits are most prevalent in people over the age of 60.
A cuppa is the go-to move for Irish people when faced with any event in life. Bad news? Console yourselves with a cuppa. Good news? Celebrate with a nice cup of tea and a biscuit. Problem to solve? You will think more clearly after a cup of tea. You get the idea…
Tea is a staple of Irish life and the first thing offered to guests when they visit your home.
Many of us begin our day with a cup of tea over breakfast and break up the working day with a tea-break.
It is everywhere! And we love it!
So of course, we welcome the news with open arms that all this tea consumption is doing us some good.
Finally, something we can eat (shouldn’t that be drink?) without feeling guilty about the harm it could be doing to our health.
