One of Galway’s favourite eateries has been named amongst the finest pizza restaurants in Europe by expert travel site Big Seven.
The Dough Bros is well established in Galway despite only first opening its doors in 2013. It is popular with both the locals and visitors to the city and has a reputation for fine food and great value.
The Dough Bros are actual brothers Eugene and Ronan Greaney. They began operating out of a food truck but have worked hard and now have a restaurant in Middle Street in the centre of Galway, and also serve their pizzas in the beer garden of the popular O’Connell’s pub.
Anyone who has tasted the delicious Dough Bros pizzas will understand why it has been recognised by the experts at Big Seven.
In their report on the Dough Bros, the travel site wrote: “It’s well known for its Neapolitan-style pizza, topped with Italian and local Irish salami and cheese.
“Not only have they mastered the art of woodfired pizza in the restaurant itself, the Dough Bros expanded during the pandemic to offering DIY at-home pizza kits. The perfect amount of char, chew and flavour.”
The accolade is well deserved, and the Dough Bros were the only Irish establishment named in Big Seven’s list of the top 50 pizza restaurants in Europe.
The Dough Bros placed in a very respectable position of 27th on the list.
It is not the first time that the Dough Bros have gained attention in the media.
In 2020, one of owners amused his patrons by responding to a negative online review by suggesting he would send Chief Wiggum from the Simpsons to investigate its validity.

The best pizza restaurant in Europe was L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele – Naples, Italy according to the Big Seven rankings.
Unsurprisingly, Italian eateries are prevalent in the list with six restaurants ranking inside the top 50.
However, the unofficial home of pizza, Naples, has only two entries on the list, although one of those was first place.
