Owner of pizza joint uses Simpsons character to respond to farcical review

The owner of an Irish pizza place responded to a negative online review by joking that he would get the Simpsons police officer Chief Wiggum to investigate.

The Dough Bros on Middle Street in Galway is well-known around the city for serving up some of the tastiest pizzas in town.

However, they failed to impress one customer who went on to TripAdvisor and posted a scathing review online.

It read:

“Pretty average, make your own pizza type, tastes cheap but isn’t, much better places in town. Use as a last resort.”

The criticism contrasted with the majority of other reviews left by customers, with the Dough Bros holding an impressive 4.5 out of 5 overall rating on the site.

Restaurant owner Eugene Greaney decided to respond to the bad review with a comical reply.

He wrote:

“Make your own pizza type
“Cheap ingredients
“Use as a last resort.

“When a review comes in that is just so off the charts in relation to all of the other 1600 or so others, one really has to question its credibility.

“We have had our top PI Chief Wiggum from The Simpsons follow this lead and he has concluded a most definite case of sabotage.”

The response has been published in several Irish media outlets and been praised by readers for its comical tone.

Fans of the Simpsons will know that Chief Wiggum is the incompetent police chief of the town of Springfield. He is often seen eating donuts, and is almost always shown to be useless at fighting crime and solving cases.

No doubt, Greaney chose to reference Chief Wiggum in his response to suggest the criticism was a bit of a farce.
