Irish football legend Robbie Keane has saluted the ‘real heroes’ working in the HSE with an inspiring message from him and his family.
Keane and his wife Claudine, and their two boys, took part in the national action of thanking the country’s health workers by offering a minute’s applause.
The former Tottenham and Ireland star said: “I just want to thank you on behalf of myself and my family.
“All the doctors, the nurses, the carers, everybody associated with the hospitals.
“Putting your lives at risk to save ours. We really appreciate it.”
Claudine added: “Thank you so much. You’re an inspiration to us all.
“We appreciate you so so much. Thank you for putting your lives on the line to keep us safe.
“We really appreciate it.”
Robbie then insisted the health workers are the ‘real heroes’ and his two boys enthusiastically agreed and the whole family smiled and applauded into the camera.
The Keanes were one of millions of families that took part in the national display of appreciation and thanks to our country’s key workers.
People all around Ireland came to their front doors, balconies, upstairs windows and social media to cheer and applaud as a symbol of their gratitude to the people working hard throughout the coronavirus crisis.
It is a move that has been taken by civilians of several countries around the world as each struggle to contain and manage the spread of the virus.
