Irish superstar Niall Horan has said that his parents have got used to his fame – but still love one aspect of having a celebrity son.

Over the past decade the 26-year-old has travelled the world performing for millions of fans and appearing on the most famous shows in the USA.

However, the Mullingar star’s parents are most impressed with their son when they see him back in Ireland on the Late Late Show with Ryan Tubridy.

Most other aspects of Horan’s fame has become the norm for his parents.

Horan said: “My dad is fine with it. Even now, I’d bring him to a lot of golf tournament, and he’d go up to a famous golfer and say ‘I was only watching you on the telly last week.

“I used to find it quite embarrassing but now I’m like ‘People are people’. My mother loves going up to the Late Late Show in Dublin when I’m on it.

“My father is like ‘Jesus, Tubridy is a lovely fella.’ I did Saturday Night Live before Christmas, but they wouldn’t have a clue.”

Horan said that one of the best things about appearing on the Late Late Show was that his parents are able to meet some of their favourite stars.

He continued: “They go into the green room on the Late Late and Ryan comes in and says hello and they’re talking about it for two weeks. That’s what I love about Ireland, it’s simple.

“It doesn’t take a lot to make people happy. My mother meeting Michael Bublé, she isn’t over it now.

“She’s a huge Michael Bublé fan, like most people. She went to meet Michael and she’s grabbing onto his face. ‘Ah ma, what are you at? He’s my friend!’”
