An Irish man killed in a motorway crash in Wales has been named by police.
Andre Murphy, known to friends as Nick, was killed on the M4 near Newport in a two-vehicle collision at 4.15am on Monday.
It is believed stud farmer Mr Murphy, 56, was delivering horses when his truck got a flat tyre, and he was repairing the wheel on the hard shoulder when he was hit by another vehicle.
Among those paying tribute to the father-of-two, from Co Wexford, was parish priest Father James Nolan.
He told the Irish Independent newspaper: “It is a tragedy for all involved. His heartbroken wife Julie is being comforted by family and friends.
“He was well known and respected by all in the equestrian community. He will be missed.”
Gwent Police said a 29-year-old passenger, who was travelling with Mr Murphy and also from Ireland, was uninjured.
A spokesman added: “A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is on police bail.”
