A man in his early 70s has died in a five vehicle crash in Co Cork. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been taken to Cork University Hospital for a post mortem examination.

A garda officer is among two drivers who were taken to hospital after an early morning crash involving a patrol car in Co Donegal. The collision happened at around 3.45am on a stretch of road at Meencargagh, Ballybofey, locally known as McGrorys Brea.
Two held over murder of dissident republican Vincent Ryan
Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a dissident republican shot dead while sitting in his car on a suburban street last month. The suspects, aged in their 30s, were detained during early morning Garda raids in north and west Dublin by investigators probing the killing of Vincent Ryan.
Transfusion service warns of blood supplies shortage over bank holidays
Irish blood supplies may not be maintained over St Patrick’s Day and Easter, the transfusion service warned. Hospitals have been asked to conserve the use of some blood groups and reserves are down to four or five days.
