Cows head to the beach in Sligo for a spot of sunbathing

Cows sunbathing in Co Sligo

The weather in Ireland has been so warm this week that even a herd of cows have taken a trip to the beach for a spot of sunbathing.

Where else but Ireland would you see a scene like this?

The cows decided to take a break from grazing in the green Sligo countryside, and where better to go than the seaside?

A video uploaded to joe.ie sees dozens of cows casually relaxing on Mullaghmore Beach with many of them taking the weight off their feet.

They are certainly very relaxed as they take in the sun.

The current heatwave in Ireland has seen temperatures soar higher than in North Africa. Irish people (and cows) are enjoying 28°C heat – compared to 23°C in Morocco.

Some regions, such as Co Clare, have reported their hottest summer since 1946.

Dublin’s Phoenix Park has had its driest June for almost 80 years with just 3.8mm rainfall being the lowest since 1941.

The heat has caused a hosepipe ban across Northern Ireland and Dublin. Thrill seeking Dubliners have also been doing summersaults into the Liffey in order to keep cool.

With all that going on people are flocking to Ireland’s beaches around the country.

Why shouldn’t the cows get in on the action too?

Take a look at the video below.
