As the autumn brings the colder evenings and dark nights, one of nature’s unwelcome houseguests tends to come out in force.
Spiders!
It is during this time of the year that they can be seen scurrying across the living room carpet and creeping out from behind the cupboards.
It can send a shudder down your spine just thinking about it. To make matters worse, as well as seeking shelter from the harsh conditions outside, October sees the beginning of the mating season for spiders, making them even more active and adventurous.
However, there could be a solution in sight. One Facebook user has posted her advice on how to spider-proof your home.
Sylvia Crawford posted her technique of warding off the eight-legged creepie crawlies.
She said: “Had leftover packet of mint and small amount of cleaner left. Chopped mint and added to anti bac cleaner and filled with water.
“Sprayed under windowsill outside and around the door. I watched the spiders run as I sprayed. They hate mint right enough. Some people use essential oils, but I just thought I would use up what I had.”
So, there you have it, a few household items and you can secure your home for the winter months from the creepy critters.
