Star Wars: The Force Awakens may still be out in many movie theatres across the world but the producers have already released a teaser for episode eight.
The video incudes footage shot on Irish island Skellig Michael – which featured in the latest movie. Warning – anybody yet to see The Force Awakens might not want to continue reading this article.
The Force Awakens was generally seen as a return to form for the franchise, which is one of the most successful in movie history.
Skellig Michael was used as a location for the film but the part it played in the saga remained top secret until the movie was released.
We now know that the island was used as a place of solitude for Luke Skywalker. It didn’t feature until the very end of the movie – making its appearance all the more dramatic.
Main character Rey had the spent the movie trying to track down Skywalker, who was vital to her cause as he was the last remaining Jedi.
She finally tracked him down on a deserted island in the middle of an ocean planet (our very own Skellig Michael). With that, the film finished – leaving the impression that the story had only just begun.
Lucas film and Disney released a statement saying: “Rey took her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and will continue her epic journey with Finn, Poe and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the continuing Star Wars saga, which began principal photography at Pinewood Studios in London on February 15, 2016.”
The Star Wars VIII teaser is just thirty seconds long and the only location featured is Skellig Michael. The footage starts with the island in the background before quickly zooming in.
It then sees Mark Hammill as the traumatised and isolated Luke Skywalker during his first meeting with Rey… before the director says ‘Cut’!
It was very short and sweet but will be enough to get Star Wars fans excited about episode eight.
