The 8-piece Dublin choir The Ramparts decided to practise their skills on the streets of Dublin, ahead of their 2017 appearance on the BBC talent show Pitch Battle.
They recorded the absolute classic Father Ted song ‘My Lovely Horse’ just outside St Stephen’s Green.
As an acapella group, the lads sing without any musical accompaniment.
The Ramparts are led by Ruaidhri O’Dalaigh and sing songs from all genres of music, from traditional Irish folk tunes to modern pop hits.
My Lovely Horse was the song written and sung by Fathers Ted and Dougal in the massively popular episode of Father Ted ‘A Song for Europe’.
The two priests sang it to become Ireland’s Eurovision contestants, despite stealing the tune from another band.
The song was actually written by Northern Irish band The Divine Comedy, who also wrote the comedy’s theme tune.
Well done to the boys from The Ramparts for bringing My Lovely Horse back to our attention. They even managed to lose that sax solo!
Take a look at The Ramparts performing on the streets of Dublin, and of course you want to see the original from Ted and Dougal again too, that video is below.
