Everywhere you turn there are breathtaking scenes from placid lakes to bubbling mountain streams, from majestic woodland, to historic towers and churches… all within a few minutes’ walk.
Peter McCabe
Leading the course is one of Ireland’s top landscape photographers, Peter McCabe. His unique pictures have featured in numerous leading magazines and are often used by the Irish Tourist Board.
Peter will guide you to some of the best locations at Glendalough, and show you how to take better pictures. He’ll give you tips on composition, lighting, structure, and how to get the most from your camera.

• Unlock the mystery of your camera’s settings.
• Learn about different lenses, filters, tripods & other accessories.
Maybe you’d like to blur the background in your photo and have a sharp foreground, or get a silky water effect. Peter will show you how.
It doesn’t matter if you use the latest digital SLR or just a smart phone. You can take great photos with either, although for more advanced techniques you will need a camera with adjustable settings.
This course is ideal for beginners to advanced… whatever your skill level you’ll come away knowing much more.
Course Programme
09.15 – 09.30 Arrive at the Glendalough Hotel for tea and coffee.
09.30 – 10.30 Course introduction with Peter exploring composition, lighting and the essential ingredients for taking great photos.
10.30 – 12.30 On location at Glendalough putting the theory into practice taking pictures of the ancient Round Tower and surrounding ancient churches and outbuildings.
12.30 – 13.00 Packed lunch on location (included).
13.00 – 15.00 Back on location looking at the lakes, woodland, mountains etc.
15.00 – 16.00 Back to Glendalough Hotel for tea and coffee, for questions and answers with Peter and a debrief on the day’s events.

As well as the experience and skills you will gain by spending time with Peter, we’ll send you a professional print of the best photo you take on the course. And we’ll also send you a free print personalised with your name in Ogham and the ancient Irish script used in the Book of Kells, Ireland’s greatest art treasure.
Once the course is over, simply select your favourite photo and email it to us. Don’t forget to tell us the name you would like printed in the ancient Irish script. We’ll then create two professional standard prints and post them to you for free.

Cancellation policy. If you cancel more than two weeks before the course you will receive a full refund. If you cancel less than two weeks, but more than one week from the course date you will be given a 50% refund. There will be no refund if you cancel within a week of the course.
