Take a look at this little drummer boy who is beaming with Irish pride at a 1916 commemoration in Dublin.
Odhran Reade took to the streets with his bandmates – Carrick on Suir R.F.B. – for the 1916 commemoration march in Dublin city centre.
The march took place on 24th April 2016 – 100 years to the day of the beginning of the Easter Rising.
Six-year-old Odhran, from Tipperary, looked right at home in centre stage and even performed a drum solo during the performance.
He was one of several drummers performing in the march. The band included musicians such as the flutters, bass drummers and side drummers.
Ciara Quinlan sent the video to joe.ie. She said: “He hasn’t missed a practise since he started.
“He wasn’t taught how to play it, he learned purely from observing the band as two of his older sisters are also involved.”
Odhran’s band actually started before he was even born. Carrick on Suir R.F.B. were formed in 2007 and have been performing since 2009.
They have gone on to perform at marches all over Ireland including cities and towns such as Galway, Kilkenny, Derry, Cork, Offaly, Waterford, Kildare, and Wicklow.
They continue to go from strength to strength and have seen their numbers swell over the past couple of years, adding several musicians to their line up as well as a number of trainees.
