O Holy Night is one of the most loved Christmas carols around the world. The music was composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 to go with the French poem “Minuit, chrétiens” (Midnight, Christians) written by Placide Cappeau.
The carol was soon translated into English and has been recorded by some of the biggest names in music, including Nat King Cole, Mariah Carey, Josh Groban and Bastille.
Few will have sang it so beautifully as Irish student Julie Rose Bowell.
