As the start of 2020 marks the beginning of a new decade, we are looking back at some of the best moments in Ireland over the past ten years.
This mass performance of Galway’s unofficial anthem Galway Girl by Mundy and Sharon Shannon in the streets of Galway was one of the highlights of 2016.
The performance was witnessed by more than 15,000 revellers in the streets, as the county’s most famous song was sang by music legends Mundy, Shannon and several other talented artists.
The momentous occasion was recorded by Galway-based filmmaker Kamil Krolak.
He took footage of the scene and edited it into a great video that provides a brilliant showcase for the song, the musicians, the city and its people.
The event took place on June 11th, 2016 and is the largest street performance of the great Golway Girl song on record.
Singers Sharon Shannon and Mundy were supported by fellow musicians We Banjo 3, Amazing Apples, Roisin Seoighe and Lackagh Comhaltas.
Galway’s own Rose of Tralee participant Rosie Burke was one of many local people in attendance to show their support for the city.
The video is expertly produced with some great aerial shots showing just how much of a crowd there was for the performance.
