With Ireland sending two soccer teams to the European Championships for the first ever time, BBC Northern Ireland have created a great video to explain the difference between the teams.
Both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland qualified for the tournament in style – Northern Ireland finished top of their group and the Republic made it through the playoffs and also bagged a historic win over world champions Germany along the way.
It is certainly a proud year for both the Irish Football Association and the Football Association of Ireland.
BBC NI’s comical video looks at the differences – and similarities – between the two teams. Fans of Monty Python’s The Life of Brian will love a reference to the People’s Front of Judea – or should that be the Judean People’s Front?
The video examines the differences between the fans, the governing bodies and the managers and players of each team.
There is also a piece of advice at the end which tells the viewers how to be sure to bond with an Irish fan – even if you don’t know whether they are supporting the Republic or the North.
Take a look at the video below.
Oh, hello the rest of Europe! If you can't tell your @NorthernIreland from your @FAIreland, allow us to explain.https://t.co/4pMujvmNca
