Irish UFC star Conor McGregor has split opinion among fans after he heaped praise on US President Donald Trump.
The Dublin fighter said Trump could be one of the greatest Presidents ever.
McGregor, who knocked out American Donald Cerrone 40 seconds into his comeback fight, said that Trump was a ‘phenomenal President’ as he replied to a Tweet sent out by Trump to mark his anniversary of being sworn into office.
Trump tweeted: “It was exactly three years ago today, January 20, 2017, that I was sworn into office. So appropriate that today is also MLK jr DAY. African-American Unemployment is the LOWEST in the history of our Country, by far. Also, best Poverty, Youth, and Employment numbers, ever. Great!”
MgGregor replied: “Phenomenal President. Quite possibly the USA goat (greatest of all time). Most certainly one of them anyway, as he sits atop the shoulders of many amazing giants that came before him. No easy feet (sic).
“Early stages of term also. Incredible.
“Congrats and Happy Martin Luther King Jr. day America.”

McGregor’s tweet drew many passionate responses from both sides of the political spectrum.
Many people said they could no longer support McGregor.
Just got off the McGregor bus, I was a huge fan until this tweet, I'm sure this will cost you more fans than any fight you lose.
Team Masdival, Khabib, Usman or anyone who fights you now!!!

Reminder: Donald took out a full page ad demanding the death penalty for five boys who were exonerated in the crime, and has never apologized for it.
Stay in your lane of punching people for a living, Mr. "feet."

On the other side, people tweeted in support of McGregor’s comments.
Every Time it seems someone sticks up for Our President the person sticking up for him gets haters from the left. To the lefties, why dont you go to the twitter feeds of your heroes and sign off on how well Schiff, and Pelosi are doing for America, go there and do your thing.
