Comedy legend Bill Murray has landed a dream role for his latest series, as he tours across Ireland playing golf to showcase the brilliant courses we have to offer.
The Ghostbusters star will tee off in glamorous courses including St Patrick’s Links, Carne and Galway Bay.
The series is named The Links Life and is being produced with the help of Tourism Ireland who hope having a huge star like Murray will help promote the country’s golf courses.
Murray is a keen golf fan and a useful player. He was thrilled to be invited to tour the courses of Ireland.
Niall Gibbons, Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland, said: “We are delighted to support the filming of The Links Life featuring Bill Murray.
“It is a really great way to showcase Ireland and some of our top golf courses. Our aim is to remind viewers that Ireland offers some of the very best golf in the world, as well as spectacular scenery and fantastic experiences.
“The episodes filmed here will help ensure that Ireland stays ‘top of mind’ among golfers in the US and elsewhere around the world.”
Murray has been a hugely popular figure for decades thanks to his performances in movies such as Scrooged and Space Jam.
He also starred in the iconic film Groundhog Day opposite US actress Andie MacDowell.
The series The Links Life will be broadcast on YouTube and other streaming platforms. It is presented by New York golf writer Tom Coyne.
It is hoped it will encourage golf fans from around the world to travel to Ireland to enjoy the courses and immerse themselves in Irish culture during their stay.
