Irish comedians Foil Arms and Hog have come up with a great sketch which takes an unexpected look at the concept of interventions.
As many people know, a group of family or friends may stage an intervention on somebody who they feel may have begun to lose their way a little.
They are intended as a wakeup call to a loved one who might have stumbled into a lifestyle that is doing them no good. They could be about anything from drinking too much, working too hard or simply not making the most out of life.
However, in the case of Foil Arms and Hog, the characters in their sketch are worried about their teenage son because he has a drinking problem – he is not drinking any alcohol.
It’s a great tongue in cheek Irish twist on the intervention.
At first the son is in denial, claiming: “I drink all the time, I’m drunk right now!”
However, his mother sees right through the pretence and scoffs: “He can’t even slur his words!”
They then confront him about a bottle of water they found in his room.
As the video progresses they come to realise that their son is a ‘teetotaler’ who believes that drink is bad for your health.
It all leads to the revelation of a dark family secret.
