Jennifer Gibney, who plays Mrs Brown’s daughter Cathy Brown in the hit movie and TV show Mrs Brown’s Boys is set to appear on Strictly Come Dancing.
Gibney has become a much loved star in Ireland and the UK thanks to her role in the series. The spin off movie was a huge success and was the highest grossing movie of the year in Ireland, ahead of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, 22 Jump Street and the Inbetweeners 2.
It has led to her being invited to compete on the primetime show which has been one of the most watched series in the UK over the past few years.
The first episode of this year’s series will be shown on BBC 1 on Sunday 7 September.
Gibney will be joined by chef Gregg Wallace, singer Pixie Lott, rugby star, Thom Evans and many more including TV personalities Caroline Flack Alison Hammond and Tim Wonnacott.
A source from Strictly Come Dancing told the Sun newspaper: “BBC bosses are chuffed to bits with the casting this year and cannot wait for the series to get started.
“There is a great mix of personalities doing the show from pop princesses to sports stars. Hopefully everyone will find someone they can really get behind”.
While Gibney play’s Mrs Brown’s daughter in the show, she is actually Mrs Brown actor Brendan O’Carroll’s wife in real life.
