Superstar musician Ed Sheeran has been at the top of his game for more than a decade and has collaborated with some of the biggest stars in the industry.
However, the performer who will add the backing vocals to his next album is not Beyonce or Justin Bieber, but British stand-up comedian Jimmy Carr.
The Galway Girl singer dropped the surprise news in a recent interview and also revealed that legendary Friends actress Courteney Cox is also set to perform.
Sheeran explained that funnyman Carr is featured on the track Visiting Hours on his new album Equals.
He said: “Jimmy Carr the comedian is on the background. It’s true.”
The song also has Aussie superstar Kylie Minogue performing on it, so fans cannot wait to listen and find out how it all comes together.
Jimmy Carr has been a mainstay of British comedy over the past 20 years. He has presented primetime shows including 8 Out of 10 Cats and The Big Fat Quiz of the Year, as well as continuing to perform stand-up comedy both on stage and on television.
The addition of Cox, who played Monica Geller in the hugely popular 1990s sitcom Friends, is perhaps less of a surprise, as she is the partner of Ed’s producer and songwriter Johnny McDaid.
Sheeran told the Sun: “I’m pretty sure she sings backing vocals on the album. I think she’s on Visiting Hours. If not, she was definitely on Divide somewhere.
“Me and Johnny wrote Shape Of You together and Bad Habits. We work together a lot. I think she is on there.”
