A garda officer is among two drivers who were taken to hospital after an early morning crash involving a patrol car in Co Donegal.
The collision happened at around 3.45am on a stretch of road at Meencargagh, Ballybofey, locally known as McGrorys Brea.
The area is around 1.5 km outside Ballybofey.
One of the cars involved was a Garda car while the other was a black Fiat Punto car.
As is normal when a Garda car is involved in a collision, officers from the force’s official watchdog the Garda Ombudsman were called to the scene.
The drivers of both cars were taken to Letterkenny General Hospital, where their injuries are described as “non life threatening”.
The road was closed for a time to allow an examination by garda forensic experts.
Investigating gardai have appealed for any witnesses to get in touch with them at Letterkenny.
