A shocking video has emerged of joyriders in Belfast speeding around a housing estate in stolen cars.
The joyriders were caught on camera performing dangerous stunts on Ross Road of Falls Road, West Belfast.
There were young people stood nearby who were lucky not to have been hit by the cars as the skidded around a junction in the residential area.
It is thought that the cars were stolen in the city before being driven back to West Belfast.
Sinn Féin MLA Paul Maskey told Belfast Live: “I’m am thankful that no one has been injured through this death driving escapade.
“The good people of this area have suffered greatly by those who steal cars and drive about in a reckless manner.”
“The judicial system has to do more tackling this issue. Many people have been arrested for death driving but the courts grant them bail on a regular occurrence.
“Some of the people involved are habitual criminals and the courts need to take that on board to safeguard the public from this type of behaviour.
“Hopefully those involved can be brought before the courts and the judicial systems steps up to the mark.”
Members of the community are worried that someone could be seriously hurt or even killed if the joyriders are not brought to justice
Michael Donnelly, a Community Safety Officer with Falls Community Council, added: “There is just no regard for life here whatsoever.
“It is brazen on a Wednesday afternoon in broad daylight. It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or worse.”
