More than 30 people a day contact Ireland’s national rape helpline, latest figures show. Almost 12,000 callers sought help from the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre’s helpline last year, it has revealed in its annual report.

Two arrested over shooting of IRA spy
Two men have been arrested in connection with the dissident republican murder of IRA spy Denis Donaldson. The 55-year-old senior Sinn Fein official and close colleague of party president Gerry Adams was shot dead at an isolated cottage near Glenties in Co Donegal in April 2006.
