Four men have been arrested as part of a Garda crackdown on burglaries.
They were detained in Monaghan on Saturday following an operation which involved uniformed officers, detectives and the Garda Air Support unit.
They were responding to reports of suspicious activity in the Rope Walk and Belgium Park areas of the town when they saw a number of men exiting a property.
The men fled the scene on foot into nearby fields.
Four suspects aged in their late teens and early 20s were arrested during a follow up search operation.
A car was also seized.
All four were taken to Monaghan Garda Station where they are currently being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
A technical and forensic examination has been carried out at the scene. Gardai said the investigation was ongoing.
