Ambulance workers have postponed a planned work-to-rule at a control centre.
Trade union Siptu revealed the decision for staff at the National Ambulance Service base in Tallaght and said it was to make room for negotiations and to finalise contingency plans.
The industrial action will take place on June 20, but workers’ representatives insist it will not affect emergency responses.
Siptu organiser John McCamley said the dispute centred on several agreements on staffing levels, filling permanent vacancies, pay rates and retention of emergency call takers not being fulfilled.
“Siptu members met with management last week and called on them to deliver on these agreements,” he said.
“The workers have gone through a long and arduous engagement process to try to resolve this dispute but are willing to re-engage with management if senior decision-makers are involved in the process.
“Our members see this as crucial as commitments given by management to date have not been honoured on several occasions.”
Mr McCamley said the industrial action will take place unless management engages in “serious negotiations”.
