The top ten must visit destinations in Ireland for 2020 have been named by a leading Irish newspaper.
The Irish independent asked their readers to name their favourite attractions as they compiled the list – the Reader Travel Awards 2020.
The list featured a great mix of beauty spots, places of historical interest and awe-inspiring natural phenomena.
There were also one or two surprise destinations that made the readers’ top ten.
First spot went to the Cliffs of Moher. This will come as no surprise to anyone who has ever visited the Co Clare attraction.
The rugged cliffs truly are an outstanding sight and were once shortlisted to be named as one of ‘The New Seven Wonders of Nature’.
Another awe-inspiring site to feature in the top ten is the Giant’s Causeway, which is on the opposite side of the island in Northern Ireland’s Co Antrim.
The Causeway has to be seen to be believed and features thousands of hexagonal rocks stood side by side that were formed following a volcanic eruption.
The ever-popular Guinness Storehouse, Co Wicklow’s beautiful Glendalough and Dublin Zoo also featured in the top five
