A powerful and affirming new advert follows a typical day of an Irish woman who is suffering with cancer.
The advert is part of high street chemist Boots’ ‘Feel Like You Again’ campaign and sees an Irish mother pick up her son from GAA practice.
At the end of the day she removes her wig. The ad also shows the woman earlier in the day using an eyebrow pencil and putting on lipstick.
Boots are working with the Irish Cancer Society to increase awareness around cancer, promote prevention and support people suffering with the disease.
They are offering free cancer beauty services to cancer sufferers.
A beauty adviser named Rose spoke to her.ie about the women she meets and revealed that many are lacking in confidence following their treatment.
Cancer treatment can not only cause patients to lose their hair, including eyebrows and eyelashes, but could also cause a change in their skin complexion.
Rose said: “A lot of women who come in think that they’re ugly – they’re not. Everyone has beauty inside themselves, but sometimes they just need a little help finding it.
“Some women need help finding a foundation match – and others haven’t been wearing makeup at all since their diagnosis.
“Our job is to make sure that they leave the shop looking and feeling great about themselves. It’s a lovely experience.”
Boots’ head of marketing Gillian Hennessy said: “Our message is simple, we’re here to support those with cancer when they need it, whether it’s advice on medicines and local services from our information pharmacists or beauty and skincare advice from our cancer beauty advisors.”

The upcoming advert will follow a similar campaign from 2015 by Boots and MacMillan, which saw a woman socialising with friends before a flashback scene sees her visiting a beauty advisor.
