The Voice of Ireland judges are beginning to get on each other’s nerves with former Westlife star Kian Egan being the main source of friction according to the Irish Independent.
It reports that fellow judge and mentor Rachel Stevens has dubbed him ‘Kian Ego’ because of his excessive self-confidence, and his ability to charm all the best contestants on to his team.
The British singer was annoyed when Egan managed to convince 26-year-old Aaron Carroll to join his team after she thought she had him secured.
Both judges had turned their chairs after Carroll’s performance of These Boots Are Made for Walkin’. Stevens said: “I found that really entertaining, I think you could go really far with the right coach.”
However, Egan cheekily added: “I heard some special moments that you had brought in yourself, I thought I can’t let Rachel take this guy.”
Carroll decided to join Egan’s team prompting Stevens to come up with the nickname ‘Kian Ego’ for her rival.
Egan was part of the Irish boyband Westlife that set records for consecutive number ones and sold millions of records around the world, so he could be forgiven for thinking he knows a bit about the music world.
However, the Co Sligo star didn’t have it all his own way as he failed to convince singing doctor Emmet Daly to become part of his team.
The Dubliner had the choice of all four judges after his rendition of Broken Wings saw all turn their chairs and he chose to join former Saturdays singer Una Healy’s team.
