A comedy group has created a comical video highlighting the difficulties hosts will face this Christmas as they try to cater for all the different dietary requirements of their guests.
The opening scene sees three friends preparing for Christmas dinner as they set the table, tidy the dining room and check on the turkey.
One of them innocently comments that it is a big turkey for just three people, to which the cook replies: “What are you talking about? There’s loads of us.”
The scale of the misunderstanding soon becomes clear as the three friends look at each other in horror as they realise the numerous dietary restrictions and requirements their guests have.
They begin singing about the challenges they face to cater for their various guests to the tune of the famous Christmas song the Carol of the Bells.
As the tempo of the song increases, so does the sense of panic amongst the hosts as they realise they are dealing with vegans, lactose intolerants, gluten-free, carb-dodgers and celiac-suffering guests.
The traditional Christmas dinner that had been prepared would barely be suitable to serve to the gang of selective diners.
The song ends as the guests arrive at the door, causing panic amongst the three hosts.
The video ends with the group awkwardly poking at the food on their plates at the dinner table.
Although an extreme example, this video will strike a chord with many people tasked with cooking Christmas dinner for their friends and family this year, as they try to pretend all the special dietary requirements are ‘no problem’.
The video was created and performed by London-based comedy group Just These Please. Take a look for yourself.
