Happy couple Katie and Grant Colgan had an extra magical wedding day they will never forget as the entire ceremony and reception was Harry Potter themed.
The Co Antrim newlyweds celebrated their marriage in some style as everything from the wedding dress to the table decorations had a hint of the Hogwarts about them.
Superfans Katie and Grant had no doubt that the Harry Potter theme was the perfect way to make their wedding day extra special.
Katie, from Carrickfergus, told Belfast Live: “The theme of Harry Potter for our wedding started at the proposal.
“Grant proposed at the model of Hogwarts at the Warner Brothers Studio tour in London. I was in London with my parents to see the Harry Potter play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and was going to the studio tour the next day.
“Unknown to me, Grant and his mum were also in London to surprise me at the end of the studio tour with the proposal.
“Not too long after the proposal my parents came to us with the idea of Queen’s University being an ideal place for a Harry Potter themed reception in the Great Hall.
“This was pretty quickly arranged, and a date confirmed.”
The pair had their ceremony at Riddel Hall at Queen’s University Belfast, and the reception was also onsite in The Great Hall.
The newlyweds could not be more pleased at the way the day went, and all the guests were full of compliments for the unique idea.
Katie said: “We heard so many good things from our guests about the day, with compliments about the scarves and wands, the decorations, it was all so personal to us even more so because most of it was handmade with the help of family.
“From our perspective the day was perfect, everything happened when it was supposed to, we had set up the reception the day before so everything was ready there.
“We had the best bridal party to help move things around as needed and make sure everything went smoothly.”
