Father of the bride John Cusack made his daughter’s big day extra special when he unexpectedly stood up during the church ceremony to serenade her in front of all their friends and family.
John’s daughter Louise was tying the knot with Padraig Byrne in Clonaslee, Co Laois.
He had a rather grand surprise up his sleeve as he got up midway through the ceremony and sang to his beautiful girl.
One of the guests told the Irish Independent: “John has never sang in public but after seven weeks of rehearsals he nailed it.”
He most certainly did. John performed a medley of popular love songs to the delight of his daughter, and the amusement of his son-in-law.
The whole congregation had their eyes glued to John as he sang, and even threw in a couple of comedy moves and held out his hand to his future son-in-law.
The moving performance was recorded by one of onlookers, and the video has proven to be very popular online.
The last couple of years have seen musical wedding speeches become a trend in Ireland and beyond, although they usually take place at the reception rather than in the church.
Priest Father Kenny became on online star after he sang Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah to the happy couple he was marrying back in 2014. He has since recorded an album and impressed Simon Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent.
Perhaps John may consider a similar route, take a look at his performance below.
