Couple invited back to Ireland after video sensation

A Canadian couple have been invited back to Ireland after the video they created of their honeymoon across the country became an online smash hit.

Stephen and Shannon Parker spent their three weeks driving across Ireland, visiting the major tourist spots and also taking in the atmosphere of the local bars.

They recorded their entire trip and turned it into a short film showcasing the country’s appeal to travellers around the world.

The couple posted the video on Reddit Ireland and to their surprise, it immediately went viral. It has created such a stir that Tourism Ireland has invited Stephen and Shannon to return for another trip in 2014.

CEO, Niall Gibbons said: “Their video is a superb showcase of the island of Ireland from the dramatic beauty of places like the Giant’s Causeway and Connemara National Park, to the rich history of our heritage properties like Dunluce Castle and Dunguaire Castle, which also manages to convey the friendliness and the warm welcome people receive when they come here.”

Gibbons went on to say that the video’s popularity “will surely inspire other travellers around the world to come and experience the destination.”

A fantastic job creating the professional video

The Toronto newlyweds drove more than 2,500km on their trip, stopping at all of the island’s major cities as well as enjoying the spectacular views at the Giant’s Causeway amongst others.

They had 16 hours of film to get through by the time they returned, and did a fantastic job editing it down into the professional looking video.
