The wife of Irish legend Bono has said that the couple didn’t want their children to go into the entertainment industry – but there was no stopping them.
Ali Hewson has been married to the U2 frontman since 1982 and they have four children together.
The couple had hoped that their children would choose a more ‘normal’ life than the one that their famous father had lived.
However, the children had other ideas, with two of them so far moving into the entertainment world as they flex their creative muscles.
Their daughter Eve Hewson is a successful actress who made her breakthrough in the 2011 movie This Must be The place alongside Sean Penn.
She has gone on to star in the highly acclaimed American series The Knack, as well as feature in several movies including Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies and Robin Hood.
Eve’s bother Eli has moved into a career even closer to that of their father.
He is the frontman of up-and-coming band Inhaler, who have started to gather momentum and create a buzz among Irish and UK music fans.
Ali said: “He is the shyest boy and he turned into a front man and I don’t know how it happened.
“But he found his thing and it is great to see each of them find their way because it is not easy for any kid to make his way through this complicated system that is going on.
“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I am just so happy for them, each one of them, you just hope they find their way and this is his first love and it is great to see him find his way.”
Their oldest sibling Jordan is a successful businesswoman who made the Forbes’ 30 under 30 list last year.
Ali admitted that she would prefer them to have normal jobs.
She said: “Of course I didn’t want them going into showbiz, it was the last thing I wanted them to do.
“Both of us would be like that but there was no stopping him.”
