An independent Irish café had the perfect response to a Costa and a Starbucks moving into the neighbourhood.
The Blue Café in Co Wicklow wrote a cheeky message on their sandwich board outside, thanking their loyal customers for their support.
It read: “Thank you for supporting a small local cafe!
“Our coffee doesn’t Costa lot and we don’t write your name on your cup as we think you already know it.”
The Blue Café has long been a fixture on the Main Street in Arklow with locals dropping in for a refreshing coffee and their famous full Irish breakfast.
It is always a worry to small independent companies when some of the international giants move in on their patch, but the Blue Café have faced the challenge head on with a little bit of fun.
The sandwich board message has spread across social media with thousands of views and likes.
Everyone has been charmed by it, and The Blue Café has the support of the online community.
