If you are looking to find something a little different on your next trip to Ireland, then these charming horse caravans could be the perfect adventure for you.
The unique experience is a great way to get away from the stresses and struggles of big city life.
Visitors are welcomed by the friendly team at Cronybyrne, Wicklow and introduced to their horse and caravan.
The horse caravans have been beautifully refurbished and decorated to create a wonderfully snug and cosy place to live and sleep.
They are fully fitted with a working kitchen sink and gas stove. The clever design inside means there is enough room to sleep four people, so long as you are all happy squeezing in together.
The business is run by Neasa and Alan Clissmann, who cleverly spotted a tourism opportunity on their 100-acre family farm.
They started the Clissmann Horse Caravan company a few years ago and now happily welcome visitors from all over the world to their site every year.
Guests can stay in one of the horse caravans that are located on the family farm. Each one is set amongst the numerous fir trees and plants on the farm, which provide plenty of privacy from the other guests on site.
The horse caravans have their own picnic table and firepit outside, so visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery over their evening meals, and then sit cosily under the stars as night falls.
Guests can also choose to hit the road with their horse caravan, powered by one of the farm’s gentle horses.
The Clissmanns have thoughtfully designed a trail route for guests to explore, allowing three days for adventure in the Wicklow wilderness, before looping back round to where it all began.
All the Clissmann’s horses are expertly trained, and extremely friendly and easy to manage. The site says that no horse experience is necessary for guests, as they will be taught all the skills and commands they will need on site.
There are plenty of other activities to enjoy on the farm. Donkey experiences teach guests how to properly groom and care for their donkey, and a walk around the farm grounds is great opportunity to bond with your new friends.
The Clissmanns know plenty of great cycling routes for guests that wish to power themselves during their adventures, rather than rely on the farm’s horses.
Neasa and Alan also have great local knowledge and can advise on the nicest and nearest pubs and restaurants to visit during your stay.
The family run business is a great escape from the everyday hustle and bustle of life. The horse caravan breaks are ideal for families looking for adventures, or for couples wanting a romantic break.
The caravans are all refurbished on the farm, with Alan acting as chief handyman and Neasa adding plenty of homely touches to the living space.
