Is Saoirse Ronan’s new movie the greatest film of all time?

Lady Bird is the best reviewed film of all time, according to Rotten Tomatoes

Irish star Saoirse Ronan’s latest film is the greatest movie of all time, according to film critic website Rotten Tomatoes.
Ronan stars as the title character in Lady Bird, which is a coming of age story about a young women in her late teens who has a turbulent relationship with her mother.

It has already won awards and is tipped for some big accolades at next year’s Oscars with Ronan, co-star Laurie Metcalf and director Greta Gerwig receiving high praise and predicted for nominations.
Lady Bird is the best reviewed film of all time, according to Rotten Tomatoes
This week, the movie received the unexpected honour of becoming the best reviewed movie in the history of Rotten Tomatoes.
Rotten Tomatoes is a website that collates and aggregates film and TV reviews from media outlets. On the site, a positive review (between 60-100%) is given a red ‘fresh’ tomato while a review from 0-59% is given a green ‘rotten’ tomato.
Until now, the best reviewed film in the site’s history was Toy Story 2 which had 100% fresh reviews from 163 reviewers.
That record stood since 1999. Now Lady Bird has taken the top spot after getting a 100% score from 170 reviewers.
Gerwig said: “This is completely amazing and so incredibly appreciated by the entire team that made Lady Bird.
“We put our heart and souls into this movie, and the last step of this deeply collaborative art form of filmmaking is giving the film to the audience and the film critics.
“That there has been such a warm reception is a dream come true. Thank you to everyone who has seen the film and has written about it so thoughtfully. We are all on cloud nine and using our tomato emoji more than we ever thought possible.”
The Rotten Tomatoes score certainly indicates that Lady Bird is an excellent movie. However, is it the best of all time?
That is a matter of opinion of course, but the current Rotten Tomatoes score could eventually fall.
Jordan Peele’s innovative horror movie Get Out also had a 100% score that was eventually dragged down to 99% after a couple of poor reviews.
It is also worth noting that all time classics such as Citizen Kane or The Wizard of Oz also have 100% scores – but just didn’t have the same quantity of good reviews as current movies.
Whatever way you look at it, it seems Ireland’s top young star has a new hit on her hands and is gradually becoming one of the most prominent actresses in Hollywood.
