To come from a land of beauty, a special history, from friendly people to scenic sites, to know of my ancestors in a land of castles and warriors, to “heaven” on earth, to know all my traits that I see come from a mystical, magical place, plus I like green.

I visited my paternal grandmother’s ancestral home at Ballymore, Co. Derry just this past May. My heart and soul felt like they’d gone home!!! I LOVE IRELAND!!! Can’t wait to return!!!

Ireland to me is the connection to the part of my ancestry that comes from there, the corner of my roots that run deepest, “home” even though I live elsewhere. When I visited Ireland last year, the Irish part of my blood went wild with joy. I felt like I had completed a circle started in 1846 when my great grandfather came to America.

My Granny on my Mom’s side shared our Irish Roots with us. I guess that’s where my feisty side so proudly comes from.. Never give in!!!! Be proud.

My now deceased grandfather J.L. McLeod would sit and tell me stories of how our ancestors came to the U.S. as little more than slaves. He told me we come from strong people, and that Irish roots were something to proud of. He also told me that God created liquor to keep us from taking over the world.
