Taoiseach welcomes jobs boost from social media giant

Online professional network LinkedIn has announced it will take its workforce in Ireland to more than 1,000.
Marking five years of the company’s operations in Dublin – its European headquarters – it revealed it had hired 300 people in the last year and is recruiting another 100.
The firm also outlined plans for its new international headquarters have moved on with the new offices on a 17,000m sq site expected to be open by the start of 2017.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny visited the site and described the presence of one of the world’s leading internet firms as a fantastic endorsement for Ireland.
“In a short space of time, LinkedIn has become a major employer in Ireland and continues to grow,” he said.
“The calibre of people employed by LinkedIn reflects the quality of the Irish workforce and is another reason why Ireland is seen as a global centre for technology and internationalisation.”
LinkedIn connects workers and professionals in an online network and has more than 400 million members.
