Luas workers are to decide over the weekend whether to accept a new three-year pay deal.
The offer has been tabled initially to ticket inspectors after 48 hours of talks between trade union chiefs at Siptu and tram operator Transdev.
Drivers will learn if they will get a similar proposal when their representatives meet management early next week.
Siptu organiser John Murphy said: “The proposals emerged following direct engagement with the company where union representatives raised all the issues that have to date impeded a successful resolution of the dispute.”
The deal is understood to involve an overall pay rise of more than 10% over three years for inspectors, known as traffic and revenue protection supervisors and revenue protection officers.
The deeply divisive pay dispute was on the verge of an all-out indefinite strike until Luas workers called off a 48-hour tram stoppage planned for this weekend and management agreed to revive talks.
Workers had hit the company with a work-to-rule and a list of strikes – five 24-hour stoppages are still in the diary for April 28 and May 4, 13, 20 and 27.
A separate four-hour stoppage is also planned for May 26.
After drivers rejected a previous pay offer brokered by industrial relations mediators, operating company Transdev put them on protective notice and warned them they would be removed from the payroll.
Luas carries up to 90,000 passengers across Dublin every day.
Mr Murphy said the union was hoping talks between drivers’ representatives and management would resolve outstanding issues.
“A meeting between driver representatives and Transdev management is scheduled for early next week and it is hoped that this engagement will produce proposals which can be brought back to members who drive the Luas trams for their consideration,” he said.
